Pembrokeshire County Council was shortlisted for the Local Government Chronical Awards in the Diversity and Inclusion category, for its supported employment programme. Workways+ Pembrokeshire is part of this partnership which includes Norman Industries and employability projects under Employability Pembrokeshire. The LGC awards are a national set of awards that every public sector organisation in the UK can enter. Karen Davies (Project Manager), Natalie Morgan (Performance & Quality Supervisor), and Rachel Bailey (past Workways+ participant, now Learning Disability Champion for Employment), attended the awards in London on 4 November. To be shortlisted was an incredible achievement. We didn’t win unfortunately– that went to a big infrastructure project in London who worked with its suppliers to increase diversity across their supply chain.
This is what they said about our entry:
“Breaking societal barriers – excellent demonstration of how to put practice into a social model for disability. Breaking barriers showed leadership, not just for Pembrokeshire but on a wider society level.”
We want to say a massive thank you everyone who is involved in our programme.
